About me

I'm Howard (20+, he/him), just some guy from Middle Earth New Zealand procrastinating. I am a self-taught drawing hobbyist and am passionate about creating illustrations. My areas of interest include drawing characters and tarot cards.Aside from illustrating, I like Asian food/desserts, travelling and videogaming. I'm into third-person, story-rich RPGs such as FFXIV (find me on ravana!), Dragon Age, Baldur's gate 3 and Witcher 3.At the moment I am pursuing a Master's degree in healthcare and I hope to one day get a job that pays enough to get by but also allows time for me to continue drawing.

"Working with Crow is an absolutely amazing experience. First of all, the quality of his art speaks for itself; it is consistently breath-takingly beautiful, with such an eye for flow and composition, a thousand small details adding up to a resonant work of art. Every piece is gorgeous, and worthy of extended viewing. And he is fantastic to work with as an artist. He’s extremely easy to communicate with, easily understanding any corrections I had and making absolutely perfect suggestions to elevate the piece I was hoping to see to something truly amazing. I was so, SO excited to commission from Crow, and can’t recommend him highly enough." - @gynedroid"Working with Crow was an absolute pleasure. Every piece of the process was handled with professionalism and he was not only extremely communicative but accommodating to every request and question. Each step was met with consistent check ins and I felt very secure with asking for changes. What to provide for your commission

If in doubt about anything, don't be afraid to DM me and I will answer all your questions. For those new to art commissions, unfamiliar with the process or simply can't be bothered to come up with a list, here are the things you should provide me with before or after contacting me on Twitter as I need them to estimate a quote. If you refuse to organize the references in a cogent manner, I WILL charge an extra $20 service fee.You can compile these into a single email, Google Doc, Imgur, Pinterest board etc. as it'll be more accessible to me than giving me loose pictures or multiple links. (I personally prefer Google Doc or Imgur).Notes, descriptions and annotations along with reference pictures are also required:
The following list is for reference only, only use subjects that are applicable to your piece. If I require more information I will let you know.

  • Cateogry of: sketch / greyscale painting / colored painting / tarot card / icon or profile picture / others. Ask me if it doesn't fall into any category.

  • Full body / half body / portrait etc.

  • Character appearance (reference art, face claim etc.)

  • Clothing reference

  • Character facial expression, where they are looking

  • Pose

  • Background description or reference, if any

  • Specific lighting, if any

  • Recommended color palettes, if any

  • Reference for props or other compositional elements, if any

Aside to finding references, provide a simple composition. A sketch with detailed annotation is great even if you cannot draw. Here is an absolutely scuffed example I made in microsoft paint but that's really all I need to work with.

If you wish for me to dictate composition or others I'll happily do so for an additional fee. I will provide many work in progress sketches to make sure what I am drawing is exactly what you want.

Tarot card notes.

If you are ordering a tarot card and wish for me to come up with a composition, these are some prompts you can provide me (beside the general list mentioned above). They are NOT all required, nor is the list exhaustive.I will provide multiple concepts (at least 3) for you to choose from for a tarot card. I will only come up with a quote after a selection is made, as the complexity of designs will vary. If you need more assistance, we can discuss over composition more over DM.

  • I can come up with posture independently, but let me know if there's specific postures or whether you want to restrict the tarot to eg. half body only due to being on a budget.

  • General mood / emotions

  • Back story of character

  • Context (Is the card depicting the character fighting? Serene? Melancholic?)

  • Overall abstract ideas / Vibes

  • Elements such as symbolism, crests, animals, spirits, objects

  • Color palette

  • Frames

  • Specific shapes or patterns

  • Inspiration from real tarot cards

  • Pinterest mood board even, if you're stuck
